The planet Mars, or Mangal, is one of the most significant planets in an individual’s birth chart. As per Vedic Astrology, it represents the fierce energy that enforces or guides our actions. It also represents other aspects, including our energy, sisters, brothers, earth, courage, strength, security, and army. However, when it is placed weak or negatively in the birth chart, it leads to unnecessary anger, problems in land-related ventures, and issues in married life. Thus, to pacify Mangal Dev and reduce the malefic effects of Mangal, the Mangal Puja is performed. Since Mars is associated with Lord Bajrangbali, thus, the deity who is worshipped during this Puja is Lord Bajrangbali or Hanuman Ji.
When Mangal or Mars is placed with the malefic planets like Saturn, Ketu, and Rahu in the natal chart, it leads to the formation of many Doshas. For example, when it is positioned with Rahu, it forms the “Angarak Dosha.” However, if this planet is situated in the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 12th houses of the natal chart, then there is a formation of the Mangal Dosha. Thus, to eradicate the adverse effects of these Doshas in the native’s natal chart, Mangal Puja or Lord Hanuman Ji Puja is performed.
Perform the self-practice or meditate to refine your inner soul. For Hanuman Ji Puja, it is essential to maintain external and internal purity and cleanliness. On the Puja Day, in the morning, after taking a bath, light a Ghee lamp, and worship the deity to let them accept your prayers. If possible, observe the fast; and if it is not possible, then at least have the Sattvik meals and avoid onion, garlic, or any tamasic food. Seek blessings from the deity for a prosperous, harmonious, and fulfilling life.
Considering the Vedic Astrology, the Mangal Puja (Hanuman Ji Puja) can be performed in a day, but the process can be completed in different steps and stages. The most essential requirement is to chant Mangal mantras such as "ॐ अंगारकाय नमः” or “ॐ भौं भौमाय नमः” or any other as per the requirement of the individual’s Horoscope. Pandit Ji takes the oath in the “Shubh Muhurta” before the idols and recites the Mangal Mantras along with his fellow priests, citing the individual’s name, their father’s name, and their Gotra.
The other details required are the individual’s wish or Sankalpa from this Puja, and any other additional information. The priest will take all the details and start worshiping, considering the individual’s Sankalp. They will perform Mangal Homam (Havan) with various Puja Samagri or materials. At the end of the Puja, Pandit Ji will follow the process of “Sankalp Purti,” leading to the Puja completion.
