Sun or Surya Dev is considered the King of all the planets (Moon being the Queen of the planets). In fact, the Sun is a star and not a planet, and all the other planets revolve around it. According to Vedic astrology, the Sun represents fame, father, bones, authority, Government jobs, power, gold, and others. It is also said that the powerful and strong Sun in the birth chart of the native gives them fame and success in all their endeavors. According to Vedic astrology, they hold a high position in authority, or they are in Government jobs. However, if Surya is weak and negatively placed in the birth chart, then the native cannot gain fame and name in their life. Thus, to overcome this issue, the Surya Puja is required.
If the Sun is unfavorable in the individual’s birth chart, then they may face many problems in life. All the efforts put in by the person go in vain, and they start losing their confidence. The native with the weak Sun can be arrogant and self-centered. Thus, to lead a better and harmonious life with respect and dignity, Surya Puja is valuable.
Perform the self-practice or meditate to refine your inner soul. On the Puja Day, in the morning, after taking a bath, light a Ghee lamp, and worship the deity to let them accept your prayers. If possible, observe the fast; and if it is not possible, then at least have the Sattvik meals and avoid onion, garlic, or any tamasic food. Seek blessings from the deity for a prosperous, harmonious, and fulfilling life.
Considering the Vedic Astrology, the Surya Puja can be performed in a day, but the process can be completed in different steps and stages. The most essential requirement is to chant Surya mantras such as “ॐ घृणिः सूर्याय नमः" or any other as per the requirement of the individual’s Horoscope. Pandit Ji takes the oath in the “Shubh Muhurta” before the idols and recites the Surya Mantras along with his fellow priests, citing the individual’s name, their father’s name, and their Gotra.
The other details required are the individual’s wish or Sankalpa from this Puja, and any other additional information. The priest will take all the details and start worshiping, considering the individual’s Sankalp. They will perform Surya Homam (Havan) with various Puja Samagri or materials. At the end of the Puja, Pandit Ji will follow the process of “Sankalp Purti,” leading to the Puja completion.
